Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- Eligibility for membership in APEGGA
- 5+ years experience in environmental and regulatory engineering and management in the energy industry
- Experience in regulatory compliance with ERCB and Alberta Environment requirements
Responsibilities:
- Support engineering design to ensure environmental and regulatory compliance and performance
- Develop processes to manage regulatory and environmental considerations in engineering design which may include guidance documents and compliance checklists
- Provide an ongoing environment and regulatory link from project planning through engineering design to construction and operations
- The individual would be required to liaise with regulators to seek interpretations, reviews and design clarifications
- Review project designs for regulatory compliance with ERCB, AENV and CCME and track changes in those regulatory requirements
- Coordinate and conduct environmental aspect reviews during project design phases and commissioning and start-up
- Liaise with the corporate Environment and Regulatory Group on environmental strategy, changing environmental issues and regulatory requirements
- Maintain strong link between Projects Group and corporate Environment and Regulatory Group
- Integrate environmental and regulatory considerations into project schedules
- Develop and manage regulatory road maps and permit logs for project development
- Develop audit packages for hand over to operations environment team
- Support, and where necessary manage, approval and permitting efforts for project development
Requirements:
- Broad knowledge of in-situ oil sands environmental and regulatory issues, including emissions and water management
- Operations experience in the environmental or regulatory field considered an asset
